August 3, 2026, would have been Beatrice (Bea) Lumpkin’s 108th birthday. Following her passing on June 14, 2026, Mayor Brandon Johnson declared August 3 “Beatrice Lumpkin Day” in Chicago. Today, CTPF joins the city in honoring Bea’s fierce advocacy for workers’ rights, social justice, and education, as well as her lifelong commitment to creating positive change.
