Employers of CTPF Members

Employers provide a vital link between members and the Chicago Teachers' Pension Fund (CTPF). Accuracy in reporting and payment is important, as CTPF’s effectiveness in benefit administration rests largely on the data reported by Employers, which determines members’ creditable service credit, creditable earnings, retirement contributions, and their future retirement benefits.

Annual Employer Training

Starting in 2023, CTPF discontinued one training for all employers. To better assist employers and address their school specific inquiries and needs, they can sign up for a 1-on-1 training session.

Employer Contribution Reporting

Each month, Employers remit employee pension contributions to The Chicago Teachers' Pension Fund (CTPF). Illinois law requires that these contributions be made within a certain time period. If the Employer does not send payroll dates and/or funds within the required time, penalties may be assessed.

Administrative rules, including Bylaws, for the administration and governance of CTPF that have been established and adopted by the CTPF Board of Trustees.

Returning to Work after Retirement

A CTPF retiree may decide to return to work as a teacher, but there are some rules to be aware of to avoid a pension suspension, cancellation, and possible benefit overpayment. Returning to work on a permanent, annual basis will generally result in your pension being immediately cancelled, to resume only upon re-retirement.
