During their November 20, 2025, meeting, the CTPF Board of Trustees honored Financial Secretary Mary Sharon Reilly with a posthumous Distinguished Service Award, recognizing her extraordinary contributions and enduring legacy. The award was accepted by her brother, John Reilly, on her behalf.

Elected to the Board 13 times, Trustee Reilly devoted nearly 29 years to service, holding multiple leadership roles including President, Vice President, Financial Secretary, and Recording Secretary. She chaired numerous committees and was a tireless advocate for fiscal responsibility, health insurance access, and sound investment practices.

Her career began as a Catholic school teacher before joining Chicago Public Schools, where she served until her retirement in 2002 after 37.5 years of dedicated service. Trustee Reilly, who passed away in July 2025 at the age of 83, was the longest-serving elected Trustee in CTPF history. The Distinguished Service Award stands as a testament to her remarkable commitment and impact.
