Bob was a young 80 years old, and the beloved husband to Carol and a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend to many. His published obituary may be found here.

Bob was elected to represent retired teachers on the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF) Board of Trustees in 2013, 2015, and in  2018. He was an active member of the Board. Bob chaired the Return to Work and Pension Laws and Administrative Rules Committees, and also served on the Health Insurance and Communications Committees.

His career spanned more than 30 years. Bob worked as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in the Chicago Public School (CPS) system. Upon retirement, he served for 10 years as Executive Director of the Retired Teachers Association of Chicago (RTAC).

Bob was a dedicated public servant. He served as an elected Trustee in the Village of Western Springs where he chaired the Finance Committee and was a member of the Western Springs Fire and Police Department Pension Boards. He was an active volunteer serving the Lyons Township Mental Health Commission, the Western Springs Public Library Foundation, the Aquin Guild, the Chicago Principals and Administrators Association, the Union League Club of Chicago, and at St. John of the Cross R.C. church where he was minister of care and member of the Men’s Club. 

Bob’s service was recognized by the Aquin Guild which presented him with their Award of Excellence. He also received the City of Chicago’s Superior Service Award and the Village of Western Springs named him their 2010 Citizen of the Year.

Born and raised in Chicago, Bob attended Tonti Elementary and was a proud graduate of Lindblom High School. He received a four-year academic scholarship from Illinois Institute of Technology where he earned a B.S. in political science. He went on to earn his M.A. in History from the Chicago Teachers’ College and earned additional post-graduate hours in educational administration and supervision. 

We are grateful for the time and energy he shared with CTPF and for his active involvement and devotion to the many communities he served. He will be missed.
