Former Principal/Administrator Trustee, Dr. Jerry Travlos, Recognized During June Board of Trustees Meeting

The Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF) Board of Trustees gathered on Thursday, June 20, 2024, for their monthly meeting to conduct the business of the Fund. One of the first orders of business was to recognize former Principal/Administrator Trustee, Dr. Jerry Travlos, with a Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Travlos was presented with a plaque to recognize his contributions to CTPF and its members.   

Dr. Travlos served as Principal/Administrator Trustee for more than a decade, joining the Board of Trustees in July 2012, and was most recently re-elected in 2022. He has served on several committees including Elections, Personnel, Claims and Service, Finance and Audit, Return to Work, Technology, and has Chaired the Disability committee.   

Dr. Travlos has focused his career on creating professional learning communities, building teacher capacity, data-driven instruction, collaboration, differentiation, family engagement, specialty programming, social-emotional learning, and equity. In 2015, he was selected as a Principal Fellow and participated in a rigorous professional development program provided by Northwestern’s Center for Nonprofit Management at Kellogg. In 2016, he was chosen to be an Independent School Principal and granted autonomy to manage his school. Twice he has received the prestigious Principal Achievement Award.   

President Jeffery Blackwell presented the award and concluded with “We are all grateful for his dedicated service, thoughtful leadership, and guidance throughout his distinguished tenure. We will miss him greatly and wish him the best.”
