Members seeking election as a Teacher Trustee of the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF) now have greater flexibility in submitting nomination petitions following a recent change in Illinois law.

On June 26, 2026, Governor J.B. Pritzker signed HB 4575, now PA 104-0498 into law. The legislation widens the filing period for CTPF Trustee elections and became effective immediately upon signing.

Under previous law, members running for a Teacher Trustee position were required to wait until the filing period between September 15 and October 1 to submit their nomination petitions. Under the new law, members may now submit petition materials as they are completed. There is no longer a requirement to hold petition sheets until September 15th.

Important Deadline

While members may submit petition materials on an ongoing basis, the final deadline to submit all required signatures, biographical information, and photographs is October 1, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. (CT).
