Statement of Candidacy

As a CPS graduate, I am a fierce advocate for public education and believe in the unlimited potential of students, teachers, and school leaders. For the past 29 years, I have worked as a teacher, assistant principal, principal, and network deputy chief. During this time I focused on creating professional learning communities, building teacher capacity, data-driven instruction, collaboration, differentiation, family engagement, specialty programming, social-emotional learning, and equity. In 2015, I was selected as a Principal Fellow and participated in a rigorous professional development program provided by Northwestern’s Center for Nonprofit Management at Kellogg. In 2016, I was chosen to be an Independent School Principal being granted autonomy to manage my school. In 2017, I helped lead the Courageous Principals training at Deloitte. I proudly served as a mentor to resident and new-to-role principals. In 2019, I was selected as a Lead Assessor working closely with the Department of Principal Quality. Twice I received a Principal Achievement Award and credit this honor to the fantastic work of my assistant principals, faculty, staff, students, and school community. In 2020, I earned my doctorate degree in Educational Leadership from DePaul University.

For the past ten years, I have proudly served as an elected trustee to the Chicago Teachers’ Pension fund representing administrators. Your voice and needs matter to me.
