My name is Gail Davis, and I am seeking to be elected to the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF) Board of Trustees. It is with great excitement and gratitude that I humbly ask for your vote!

After a rewarding 40-year career at CTPF, I have proudly joined the ranks of thousands of retired educators and administrators who paid their dues after years of pouring into our education system. I am also the proud mother of ABC 7 Chicago’s very own Samantha Chatman aka “Sam on Your Side!” I share my daughter’s grit and passion for having the backs of hardworking people whose interests deserve to be defended and protected. I am deeply invested in the economic wellness of CTPF.

As a Trustee, I will work tirelessly to provide, protect, and enhance every dollar and benefit you’ve earned and deserve. I retired from CTPF as Director of Administrative Services. During those four decades of service, I supported numerous CTPF Boards of Trustees and attended more than 1,000 CTPF Board and Committee meetings. That experience afforded me a unique perspective into the roles and responsibilities of a Trustee. I know without a doubt that I will be a savvy ethical steward of the Fund. I will be prepared to hit the ground running as your Trustee on day one.

I will work across the aisle for the good of every member. It’s not “us” versus “them”... it’s “we!” While I may be endorsed by some and supported by others, I’m running for all retirees and members. The only hat I will wear is that of a Fiduciary. With my fellow colleagues, I will be your advocate!

My core priorities as your Trustee:

Fight for legislation passage that will increase the annual health insurance reimbursement cap from $65M to $100M, and ensure health insurance rebates do not drop below 60%.

Approve asset allocations and investment policies that will ensure optimal investment returns, while mitigating risks through portfolio diversification.

Work tirelessly to increase the funded ratio so that CTPF will always be a source of income and benefits for not only current retirees, but for retirees of the future.

Protect against pension raids and pension holidays.

Support CTPF staff with resources to efficiently carry out their duties to our members and keep CTPF on the list of Great Places to Work.
