Make a FOIA/Public Records Request

Non-Commercial Request

News media, non-profit, scientific, or academic organization requests shall not be considered to be made for a commercial purpose when the principal purpose of the request is:

  • to access and disseminate information concerning news and current or passing events,
  • for articles of opinion or features of interest to the public,
  • for the purpose of academic, scientific, or public research or education.

A request for information that is not for one of the above reasons and is not otherwise a commercial request will be treated as a non-commercial request. If CTPF determines that a request is a commercial request, the request will be treated as a commercial request in accordance with the Illinois Freedom of Information Act, even if the request is made through the Non-Commercial Request Submittal Form.

Access the Non-Commercial FOIA Request form, or submit your request to Non-CommercialFOIA@ctpf.org.

Commercial Request

A commercial request is when any part of a record requested, or information derived from the records requested, in any form is used for sale, resale, or solicitation or advertisement for sales or services.

Access the Commercial FOIA Request form, or submit your request to CommercialFOIA@ctpf.org.
