On June 5, 2024, the Governor signed legislation extending the allowable number of days per school year on which a retiree can return to work on a temporary and non-annual or hourly basis without having a pension cancelled from 120 to 140 through June 30, 2027. This legislation was originally set to expire on June 30, 2024.

This Fall, CTPF will hold elections for: 

• Two (2) Teacher Trustees to serve three-year terms from November 2024-November 2027 
• One (1) Principal/Administrator Trustee to serve a one-year term from November 2024 – November 2025 

Retirees who received and paid for health insurance coverage from another source between January 1-December 31, 2023, recently received a mailing detailing the process of applying for a health insurance premium subsidy. Applicants must complete and return Form 355. NEW DEADLINE THIS YEAR: the deadline to submit applications is July 31, 2024 (with NO exceptions). Visit ctpf.org/ctpfsubsidy to learn more. 

A meeting of the Pension Laws and Administrative Rules Committee will be held today, Friday, June 7, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the CTPF office at 425 S. Financial Place, 15^th Floor, Chicago, Illinois 60605.

The June 1, 2024, pension check mailing has been delayed by the US Postal Service. This only impacts the small percentage of members who receive printed checks. Checks were delivered on time to the Post Office processing facility, on May 30, 2024, as scheduled.

A First Friday meeting of the Investment Committee will be held today, Friday, June 7, at 9:30 a.m. in the CTPF office at 425 S. Financial Place, 15^th Floor, Chicago, Illinois 60605.

Members with gross income exceeding certain amounts set by Medicare must pay a monthly Income Related Monthly Adjustment amount (IRMAA) for Medicare Part B and Part D coverage premiums. If you are impacted by IRMAA, you must pay your Medicare Part D *IRMAA payments directly to Medicare.
