This Fall, CTPF will hold elections for: 

• Two (2) Teacher Trustees to serve three-year terms from November 2024-November 2027 
• One (1) Principal/Administrator Trustee to serve a one-year term from November 2024 – November 2025 

Counselors are available to answer individual questions about retirement and health insurance and to help you complete your retirement application. Phone, video, and in-person counseling appointments are available. Appointments are also required to drop off forms and applications. Members should call Member Services at 312.641.4464 or send an email to memberservices@ctpf.org to schedule an appointment. Note: Walk-in appointments are not accepted. Visitors need to be added to the building's security list in advance of their visit.

The 2025 Open Enrollment Period for retiree health insurance will run from October 1-31, 2024. During this time, annuitants can enroll, add or drop a dependent, or change a health insurance plan or carrier. Changes become effective January 1, 2025. Registration for Open Enrollment education events is now open. CTPF will host Open Enrollment Webinars October 2-4. Register for all webinars by clicking on the date at ctpf.org/calendar. CTPF will also host in-person Open Enrollment Seminars for Medicare and Non-Medicare plans. Details coming soon.

Retirees who received and paid for health insurance coverage from another source between January 1-December 31, 2023, recently received a mailing detailing the process of applying for a health insurance premium subsidy. Applicants must complete and return Form 355. NEW DEADLINE THIS YEAR: the deadline to submit applications is today, July 31, 2024 (with NO exceptions). Visit ctpf.org/ctpfsubsidy to learn more.

If you have CTPF Health Insurance and enroll in an additional outside plan, you will be disenrolled by Medicare and lose your CTPF Health Insurance coverage and Medicare Part B subsidy. Reinstatement is very difficult and may result in additional penalties.  

On June 5, 2024, the Governor signed legislation extending the allowable number of days per school year on which a retiree can return to work on a temporary and non-annual or hourly basis without having a pension cancelled from 120 to 140 through June 30, 2027. This legislation was originally set to expire on June 30, 2024.
