The CTPF Teacher Trustee Election concluded at 5:00 p.m. (CT), November 1, 2024. 

Two Teacher Trustees were elected to serve three-year terms from November 2024 – November 2027. The elected Teacher Trustees are listed below in alphabetical order:

• Quentin S. Washington 

CTPF has learned that CPS teachers are receiving emails from MyPensionRep offering to provide a “Complementary Retirement Review.” Please be advised that MyPensionRep is not affiliated with or endorsed by CPS or CTPF, and that the materials appear to be a solicitation for financial services.

2:30 p.m. The Trustees are in executive session. 

3:15 p.m. The Trustees have returned to Open Session.

At their September 19, 2024, meeting, the Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF) Board of Trustees voted to terminate Western Asset Management Company’s (WAMCO) Core Plus fixed income mandate. The $568.5 million in assets will be temporarily transferred to State Street Global Advisors’ passive core fixed income account while a search is conducted for a new active manager. The timing of the search is to be determined.  

The Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF) Board of Trustees approved the release and posting of the Fund’s Forensic Audit Report, without redactions, on the Fund’s website. The audit, which covered disbursements, the General Ledger, and the Investment Department for fiscal years 2015-2021, found no evidence of improprieties or malfeasance. The audit noted minor errors and deficiencies and suggested recommendations for improvements to CTPF management and the Board of Trustees. 

The Chicago Teachers’ Pension Fund (CTPF) Board of Trustees gathered on Thursday, June 20, 2024, for their monthly meeting to conduct the business of the Fund. One of the first orders of business was to recognize former Principal/Administrator Trustee, Dr. Jerry Travlos, with a Distinguished Service Award. Dr. Travlos was presented with a plaque to recognize his contributions to CTPF and its members.

As the 2024 Fiscal year ends, I want to review the progress our team has made since I began my tenure at the Fund in August 2021. The creation and adoption of the organization’s first Strategic Plan in 2022 laid the foundation for my administration and has helped ensure transparent and accountable management. The plan, created with input from all Stakeholders, clearly demonstrates organizational priorities and sets actionable goals by year. The Strategic Plan categorizes our work into four groups based on our Mission Statement, and our Leadership Team meets monthly to check in and review progress on those goals. We are on track in 2024 for another high-performing year, following the attainment of all our attainable 2023 goals – and we each contribute to the successful execution of our strategic plan.

Delivery of the June 1, 2024, pension check mailing for printed checks was delayed by the US Postal Service, and CTPF issued new checks due to security concerns. New checks have been processed and are being mailed today, June 12, 2024. The new check will include a note indicating it is a replacement.
