Members who participate in the AARP Medicare Supplement Plan F (UnitedHealthcare) recently received a letter from UnitedHealthcare (UHC) with information regarding a June 1, 2021, rate increase. Plan F premiums are based on age, gender, vary by geographic area, and are determined directly by UHC.

The City of Chicago is providing in-home COVID-19 vaccination for Chicago residents who are unable to leave home due to age, disability, or medical impairment. This program is intended to provide access to COVID-19 vaccine in a safe, equitable, and effective method. This mobile, home-health community vaccination program will serve those who are unable to travel to a vaccination site, as well as their caregivers. Members who participate in the AARP Medicare Supplement Plan F (UnitedHealthcare) recently received a letter from UnitedHealthcare (UHC) with information regarding a June 1, 2021, rate increase. Plan F premiums are based on age, gender, vary by geographic area, and are determined directly by UHC. The increases range from $1 to $23 per month and vary by individual situation. A majority of participants will have rate increases of $7 or less.

Last spring, Gabriel Christopher and Travonce Flowers of Equis Financial obtained CTPF members’ email addresses and contacted numerous members in an attempt to sell life insurance products.

CTPF will hold a special meeting of the Board of Trustees on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at 9:30 a.m.

Due to the COVID-19 emergency, and in accordance Public Act 101-0640, enacted June 12, 2020, this meeting is being conducted via audio/video conferencing. 

Monday, March 22, 2021, from 1:00-5:00 p.m. CTPF will perform critical maintenance on equipment which will limit the call center’s availability. Members who need to contact CTPF during this period are encouraged to email memberservices@ctpf.org. Members who call 312-641-4464 will need to leave a message and a representative will return the calls within 24-48 hours.   

CTPF has a policy to routinely audit charter schools to review employee records to ensure that the Fund receives all contributions due.  

Don’t Make Costly Mistakes: Medicare Part B Payments 

Members who qualify for Medicare must make Medicare Part B (with or without *IRMAA B) payments directly to Medicare and will receive a monthly or quarterly bill unless you:  

• Receive a Social Security benefit,  
• Participate in CTPF’s MedPay program (for Part B or IRMAA B), or  
• Sign up for Medicare’s Easy Pay program   

If you fail to pay your Medicare Part B bill promptly, you will be disenrolled by Medicare and lose your CTPF Health Insurance coverage. Reinstatement is very difficult and may result in additional penalties. You may not be able to reinstate coverage.
